Sherpa 3A Renault Trucks
Renault Trucks Defense launched at Eurosatory 2006 new versions of the Sherpa truck range, including tactical vehicles, armored vehicles and light trucks. The Sherpa 2 and Sherpa 3A are all-terrain 4×4 vehicles intended primarily for backup, intervention and logistics units. These vehicles can carry a significant load on pavement or the most difficult terrain (sand, rocks and mud). The Sherpa 3A vehicle has a significantly low profile and significantly reduced overall weight, making it suitable for air and sea transport requirements. Specifically designed for military requirements, the Sherpa 3A is also fully compliant with international standards. All Sherpa ranges are transportable by conventional means of deployment (air, rail, sea). Due to its compact shape (width <2.50m), the vehicle can be deployed easily on any theater as well as in any urban area. All the features come together: Outstanding tactical capabilities in its category, especially over obstacles and on soft ground (sand, mud, …)

The powertrain solutions (engine, gearbox, suspension) made by Renault Trucks Defense give armored vehicles outstanding tactical mobility and speed, on the most difficult terrains in the world. all climatic conditions.
The vehicle can be equipped with a 4/5-seat armored body, with protection against ballistics, mines and IEDs. The Sherpa 3A structure is capable of receiving ballistic protection according to STANAG levels 1 and 2. For protection and survivability, Renault Trucks Defense has secured the cooperation of specialist survivability companies and world-class armor. Therefore, the most suitable and appropriate levels of protection are proposed against an increasingly diverse and widespread threat: kinetic energy projectiles, fragments, mines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), weapons anti-tank like RPG-7, NBC
The 10-ton class Sherpa 3A is equipped with a Euro 4 220 hp 4-cylinder engine allowing a maximum speed of 120 km/h on the road and a range of 800 km at 70 km/h with fuel tanks 200 l. The engine is combined with an Allison S250 automatic transmission, with 6 forward gears and 1 reverse gear. The chassis is constructed with a front drive axle with a load capacity of 4.5 tons and a rear drive axle with a load capacity of 6.5 tons.
